ES98B Predictive Modelling Group Project (RHESSI)
Project Overview
A satellite is currently in a deteriorating orbit around Earth. Near its perigee, atmospheric drag has begun to significantly influence its trajectory, rendering the satellite uncontrollable. Several ground-based radar stations are monitoring the satellite and periodically determining its position. As the atmospheric drag continues to slow it down, the satellite is expected to eventually re-enter and crash to the Earth’s surface. Naturally, determining the potential impact location is of great interest.
